Deseree Denham

PMHNP-BC

Deseree Denham has been homeschooling since 2009 and considers the education of her children one of the greatest privileges of her life. She is the proud mother of three — Eliana (23), Genevieve (20), and Caleb (16) — and has walked through every stage of learning from phonics to philosophy. She and her husband, George, have been married for three years and are deeply grateful for the life God has blessed them with in this season.

Professionally, Deseree is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over seven years of nursing experience across acute psychiatry, substance use treatment, community mental health, and correctional health settings. She has worked closely with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD, trauma, and other neurodivergent diagnoses. Her clinical background gives her a unique lens when teaching psychology — blending brain science, behavioral research, and lived compassion.

But long before she was a nurse practitioner, she was simply a mom at the kitchen table, reading aloud, asking questions, and watching lightbulbs turn on. Her love of psychology grows out of a deep conviction that understanding how God designed the brain and human behavior leads to greater wisdom, empathy, and resilience. She believes students benefit not only from learning theories and terminology, but from seeing how psychology helps us better understand ourselves, our struggles, our strengths, and our need for grace.

Deseree approaches teaching with warmth, structure, and high expectations. She values thoughtful dialogue, critical thinking, and respectful discussion. Her desire is to create a classroom environment where students feel safe to ask hard questions, wrestle with ideas, and grow in both knowledge and character. She hopes students leave her class with a stronger understanding of how the brain works, how habits are formed, how emotions can be regulated, and how we can steward our mental health wisely.

Above all, Deseree believes education is not just about information, but formation — shaping hearts, minds, and discernment. She is honored to partner with parents in guiding students toward maturity, wisdom, and compassion. She looks forward to a meaningful year of learning together.
